Barrowfull commissioned me to paint a mural on the Barrow Deaf Centre, following workshops with people that use the deaf club and its services. I ran creative workshops with the local deaf community alongside a translator, to uncover ideas and thoughts about the deaf community, their centres and what they would like to see represented on their building.

Response
I discovered that the Barrow Deaf Centre is an important institution in Barrow, a place that has provided care and support for the local deaf community for more than 100 years. The engagement sessions helped me understand what the Deaf Club means to local people and the kinds of activities they do when they meet there; like drinking tea, eating cake, making, chatting and supporting each other.
