I am Alex Godwin, also known as Billy, a nickname I picked up because I was silly, that soon became the name I painted under. I love to choose exciting colour palettes so I added Colours at some point when I realised no one could find me online with the simple name Billy.

I am a visual artist working on socially engaged projects, public art, murals and co-creation. I have spent nearly 2 decades making site-specific work shaped by real research and community engagement. From permanent sculpture to painted murals, I work with communities, organisations, fabricators, cultural institutions and public art producers across the UK.

What drives me is simple, just like my Billy name. I believe art in public spaces changes how people feel about their surroundings and that the best ideas come from co-creation with the people that use these places. I think it's obvious that creativity is good for your wellbeing and that making things is beneficial to all people. I want to work on projects that help other people to understand this too.
