THE KENYAN DANCE.

Nairobi, Kenya 2016

In partnership with Street Art Berlin, I went to Nairobi on a creative exchange with 4 other artists, to paint a wall in The Village Market.

My artwork was inspired by a famous painting 'The Dance’ by Matisse. My version shows figures dancing around a reflection of an imaginary city, hinting at the iconic forms or Berlin and London. The figures are sharing drinks, food and creative tools to represent art, culture and music.

During this trip, I was happy and humbled to be invited to visit Kibera - one of the biggest slums in Africa to paint with some of the local people.

It was quite a short trip to Kenya, but I loved every minute of it. I met some of the friendliest people! I wish that one day I can go back there to look around, talk to people, do some drawing and make more paintings.
